Greenwich Music Festival

Mission Statement

The mission of the Greenwich Music Festival is to further the creation and understanding of classical music as an art form that is both enriching and culturally relevant to the present.

We do this through an intensive artist workshop and residency each June, which invites our community to witness the entire creative process from rehearsal through performance and involves our youth in all aspects of the productions.

The Greenwich Music Festival is about the process of making music. The festival begins when performers and artists from around the world arrive in Greenwich to spend a month living and working in the community. For the artists, this residency is a rare opportunity to explore new artistic methods, collaborations, and repertoire. Rehearsals are opened to the public. Local students participate as interns, chorus members, assistant directors, and stage crew.

The festival culminates in a series of public performances during the month of June. Lectures by composers and scholars and round-table conversations with artists serve to further illuminate the concert season.
